Okay... Am I the only one who thinks this is an obvious tribute to "Bela Lugosi's Dead"? The subject matter goes without saying, but that is far from the only similarity. The style of progressive instrumentation used at the beginning is extremely reminiscent of "Bela Lugosi's Dead", opening with drums before progressing into a riff which strongly resembles the riff in "Bela Lugosi's Dead". It takes a relatively long time for the vocals to begin, and whispering is prominently used in both songs. Even Gerard's clothing and hairstyle in this seem like a clear homage to Peter Murphy. It's also much closer to Goth Rock than most MCR songs, both in its subject matter and musical style.

I’m going to be honest, I would not be here without these silly little emo mfs. I was really suicidal for a long period of time and hearing Gerard begging me, begging all of us to stay through the lyrics of this song just really struck a nerve. I owe my life to My Chemical Romance, these guys are the reason I’m still here and still willing to go on. I really hope each and every one of them knows how much of an impact they’ve had on their fandom, and how many lives they’ve saved sheerly just by existing and putting out music. I love MCR to the point where it’s not even love anymore it’s something even more extreme than that, words are unable to describe it and I don’t even know how to express it at this point. If anyone’s reading this, I’m proud of you for staying here and staying alive.
